Ask yourself the following questions

Creativity and Development of Musical Ideas:

  • Have you presented ideas with show potential for creative development?
  • Have you developed the content skilfully?
  • Have you included effective contrasts of tone colour and moods?

Technical control of musical elements and resources:

  • Have you chosen a variety of elements and resources?
  • Have you controlled the use of elements?
  • Have you controlled the use of resources?

Structure and coherence:

  • Have you ensured that the material is well organised and thoughtfully presented?
  • Have you responded to the chosen brief effectively?
  • Have you produced a piece which makes sense stylistically and communicates the musical ideas with understanding?

Submission checklist

  • Is your audio saved as an mp3, wav, aiff, aif or aifc file?
  • Is your score or lead sheet saved as doc, docx, pdf, zip or text file?
  • Does your accompanying score or lead sheet represent your music?
  • If doing a lead sheet: Does your lead sheet contain information about: the overall structure, details of harmonies/descriptions/features/outline of melodic content, use of instruments and/or voices and explanation of composition/developmental devices?
  • Have you checked your timing check max and min with your second composition and exam board requirements? Suggested time for each composition is 2-4 minutes long.
  • Have you met the composition brief?
